About me

Hi, I’m Jo.

Having worked in the NHS and the charity sector for over 20 years, I have seen the power of telling your story. During this time, I have supported people facing adversity, anticipatory grief, child bereavement and loss.

I am a registered member of the BACP and trained with The Counselling Foundation in St Albans. I now work in private practice with clients experiencing a range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, grief, and the impact of childhood trauma.

Alongside continuing my professional development, I believe one of the most valuable aspects of my growth as a therapist has been my own experience of personal therapy, having spent many years in the “other chair”. This first-hand experience helps me appreciate the courage it takes to begin therapy and allows me to meet you with empathy, authenticity, and understanding.

As a therapist, I aim to provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

I will work with you throughout the therapeutic process, supporting you to understand yourself more deeply, work through emotional difficulties, and make meaningful changes in your life.

Clients often describe therapy as a space they come to value - a consistent place to talk, reflect, and feel understood.

"I came to see Jo as I felt stuck and unable to move on from something I had gone through, I felt really safe with Jo and comfortable enough to open up and talk through a very painful experience. Her warmth, patience, and understanding helped me process things I had been carrying for a long time, and I’m very grateful for the support she gave me." Client

"When I first came to therapy, I wasn’t sure what I needed or even why I had come, but just talking made such a huge difference. It helped me realise there were things I had never told anyone before, and Jo helped me see myself and my experiences in a completely different way. I’m so glad I decided to come.” Client

“I took me a long time to make the call to go to therapy but I am so glad that I did. I didn’t really know what to expect but Jo made me feel at ease, every week I felt heard and now understand where my anxiety started from. I would recommend counselling to anyone." Client
