How I work

What is Psychodynamic therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is all about understanding how our past shapes the way we feeland act today, even the parts we might not be fully aware of.

It’s based on the idea that our early experiences, and the ways we have learned to protect ourselves from emotional pain, have a big impact on our lives.

In our sessions together we will explore these hidden feelings and memories in a safe and supportive space.

By looking closely at the connections between your history and your present experiences, you can gain deeper understanding and find new ways to respond.

This awareness can open the door to real, lasting change and help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.

Unlike other therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. CBT is a highly structured therapy that concentrates on identifying and changing current negative thought patterns and behaviors, it asks “how” to fix the problem. It is often shorter-term and provides practical tools for managing specific symptoms.

Psychodynamic therapy, in contrast, is less structured and more exploratory. It asks “why” the problem exists in the first place. Instead of focusing solely on present thoughts, it delves into the emotional roots of distress, seeking to understand the underlying conflicts and patterns that fuel your symptoms.

Therapy is about more than reducing symptoms; it is a space where you can explore your inner world and work toward deeper, long‑term change in how you experience yourself and your relationships.
